About Jon Hunt

Jon is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from London.

His music, though often described as ‘quintessentially English’ is eclectic in style ranging from alternative rock and power-pop to ballads, vocal and acoustic guitar to progressive rock and psychedelia.

He has had tracks played several times by Tom Robinson and Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music, and has also been played by Steve Davis on his ‘Interesting Alternative Show’.

Jon released three albums during the period 2008-2013 followed by a compilation album ‘Morning Sun’ in 2015, and the ‘Emergency Call EP’ in 2019.

His albums hark back to the time when the ‘album’ was thought of as an artform in itself. A lot of thought goes into the sequencing of tracks and the lyrical and musical concepts right down to the physical CD artwork.

Jon’s long-awaited fourth solo album ‘An Explosion Of Nothing’ was released on 9th August 2024, and is probably his most eclectic and fully-realised album to date.

Previously, in Spring 2018, the band Carcrash Casino was formed as a vehicle for the (arguably) more commercial side of Jon’s music. The debut Carcrash Casino album ‘No-one Knows More About Carcrash Casino Than I Do’ was finally released in December 2020 to extremely enthusiastic reviews.

Jon is also the bass player in Salad - the nineties band (Drink The Elixir/Motorbike To Heaven etc) who are currently on hiatus. He also is sometime dep bass player in The Smyths - the world’s finest tribute to The Smiths.

Live shows usually consist of Jon playing stripped down versions of his songs on acoustic/electric guitar (with looping and effects) and sometimes keyboard. Dates will appear on the front page of this site, and on social media.
